Dr. Sheila A. Sharpe

In this text, Dr. Sharpe delineates a developmental approach to treating couples.  This approach involves an understanding of how developmental arrests in the family of origin rework themselves in love relationships.  Based upon her 30 years of private practice experience, she has identified a set of universal patterns of relating based upon a developmental conceptualization of couples.  Through extensive case examples, she illustrates the types of defensive interactions that result from disrupted development, and how to apply therapeutic techniques to resolve them.
